Stuffed toys are also known as plush toys (U.S. English) from plush, the outer material used, and soft toys or cuddly toys (British English). They are made in many different forms, often resembling animals, legendary creatures, cartoon characters or inanimate objects. Some stuffed animals are very old – home made cloth dolls stuffed with straw go back to at least the 1830s, perhaps much older. The most well known type of stuffed toy is likely the teddy bear. For the stuffed animal, depending on it's size, you may have other options, but I would try surface cleaning first on that one too, just to see how much grime you can manage to remove. If you're not happy with those results, you can try out the other options. surface cleaning: 1. Using hose attachments, vaccum them first to remove as much dust as possible. 2. Fill a small bucket with warm, soapy water (I use Tide as it works great). 3. Get a dishtowel and soak it in the soapy water. Wring it out and scrub the animal throughly, you can usually use spot removers (check for colorfastness first) on difficult spots. If it is more ground in, try freezing it by placing an ice cube in a bag and holding the bag over the stain, then chipping it off with a bread knife. If this doesn t work, try spraying the stain with WD-40 to loosen the Silly Putty and pull off the stain.
