Around 1976 when I was a child I had a pen friend in Tokyo, and she once sent me a very fine doll. It was accidentally destroyed in a fire years later and I've never seen one the same - can you tell me what it was? It was about 10-15cm high, she was quite thin with a finely drawn face, made of wood probably hand carved. She had painted red clothing with yellow flowers, and the traditional kokeshi style black hair. But the weird thing was she had a fine paper parasol which was quite large and it came out of the side of her head. It was detachable but made her fall over. Any ideas?
